What is the signal-to-decision gap?

The signal-to-decision gap is the time and work between customer evidence arriving and a product decision being made.

In a manual process, feedback sits in calls, Slack threads and spreadsheets until someone collects and interprets it. The gap can last weeks or months.

Continuous product intelligence shortens it by updating the decision picture whenever new signal arrives. That can reduce the gap to hours or days.

Why it matters for product builders

Fast building doesn't help if the team is still waiting weeks to decide what deserves a build. The delay moved upstream.

What changes in AI-first products

The manual gap was mostly collection, classification and synthesis. Those steps can now keep running as new feedback arrives.

The decision doesn't become autonomous by default. A person still owns the judgment gate, but they reach it with current evidence instead of a research backlog.
