What is feedback polarization?
Feedback polarization is the tendency for submitted feedback to over-represent very good and very bad experiences.
People with strong reactions are more likely to write. Mild frustration and quiet satisfaction produce little evidence. Harvard Business Review research has documented this pattern across customer feedback systems.
This isn't ordinary sampling error. There is no defined population being sampled, so you can't correct it with a simple weighting. You can only remember that the middle is missing.
Why it matters for product builders
Read literally, your feedback queue can make the product look loved or broken. Most customers are somewhere in between and never wrote in.
