What is feature prioritization?
Feature prioritization is deciding what to build first when there is more work than time.
Common inputs are the number of customers affected, revenue behind them, urgency, likely impact and effort. Frameworks such as RICE and ICE are ways to write those inputs down.
Prioritization isn't estimation, which asks how long something will take. It also isn't roadmapping, which communicates the order after you decide it.
Why it matters for product builders
Any ranking rule favors someone. Volume favors the people who write in. Revenue favors large accounts. Make that choice consciously.
What changes in AI-first products
The effort side of older scoring models is less reliable. Work that once took a sprint may now take an afternoon, while other work hasn't changed. Reach and impact still matter. Effort needs fresh estimates.
