What is business intelligence?
Business intelligence collects company data and presents it so you can see how the business is doing: revenue, pipeline, headcount and margins.
The usual setup is a data warehouse, a modeling layer and dashboards or reports. It is good at answering the same high-level questions repeatedly.
BI isn't product analytics, which measures behavior inside a product. It also isn't customer feedback, which tells you what people said.
Why it matters for product builders
BI is strong on what happened and weak on why. The reason often sits in a customer conversation that never reached the warehouse.
What changes in AI-first products
Asking questions of the data got easier. Writing the query is no longer the main barrier. Knowing which question matters still is.
